Nuvvu Naku Nachav
Watched one of my all-time favourite movies again today. It was suggested to me by my friend Kalyani. Nuvvu Naku Nachav is a Telugu movie starring Venkatesh, Aarthi Agrawal, Prakash Raj etc. Nuvvu Naku Nachav literally translates into I love you. (I know what you are thinking. She was not telling me that she loves me) Venkatesh plays the role of Venkateshwaralu aka Venky and Aarthi Agarwal plays the role of Nandini aka Nandu. Prakash Raj plays the role of Nandu's father Srinivas and Sudha plays her mother Lakshmi. Suhasini plays an important role as Srinivas' sister Sujatha. Rest all are side roles for comedic purpose. Brahmanandam plays the role of a photographer who brings comedic relief and twist in the climax.
Venky's father Shekaram (Chandra Mohan) and Srinivas are very close friends. The movie starts where Shekaram sends his no-good son Venky to his friend Srinivas so that he might find a job in Hyderabad and become responsible. He reaches Hyderabad during the engagement ceremony of Srinivas' daughter Nandu. She is fashionable and beautiful.
Shekaram sends a big letter explaining the exploits of Venky in his hometown. Nandu and her cousin Pinky reads this letter and starts making fun of Venky. Venky captures everyone's hearts with his singing and quick comebacks, except Nandu. She thinks that he is a big show off. He once flirts with her friend Asha (Asha Saini) on a dare. Suhasini visits her brother. Everyone is upset with her for not attending the engagement. She explains Nandu how her life is at her home. Doesn't seem to be very good. Suhasini witnesse fights between Venky and Nandu.
Fights quickly take a turn and Nandu starts loving Venky. Venky gets a job in some company in Hyderabad. Nandu confronts Venky about her love. Venky values his father's and Srinivas' friendship that Nandu's love towards him and decides to leave Hyderabad. Srinivas intercepts his travel and brings him back home. Venky's travel is interpreted as his wish to see his father. Nandhu stops talking to Venky.
With time, Venky starts falling for Nandu as well. But he refrains from telling her that. Nandu knows that Venky loves her. But she wants to know that from his mouth. But he can't tell her. Venky, Nandu and Pinky go on a long journey for Asha's marriage. That's where the most iconic song of the movie happens. Okka Sari Chappa Leva Nuvvu Nachavani - Tell me once that you love me.
Venky just won't. They meet Brahmanandam during the journey. He takes photos of the couple. They invite him to Nandu's marriage.
It's Nandu's marriage. Venky is at the forefront of everything. He literally takes care of the whole function alone. Venky's father arrives. Suhasini also arrives for the marriage. But instead of Nandu who was fighting with Venky when she left last time, she found a heart-broken Nandu. She understands what is wrong. Suhasini is the only person who knows that Nandu is heartbroken. She confronts Venky. That's one of the best emotional scenes in the movie.
The photos that were taken by Brahmanandam drop like bombs. Groom demands more money to marry Nandu since her character has been tainted by the existence of the photos. Srinivas denies. Groom and party leaves. Venky and his father try to convince the Groom's party.
Meanwhile, Srinivas is angry on Nandu and her mother for disgracing the family name. Then Suhasini steps in. Looks like all good dialogues are reserved for Suhasini, in this movie.
Srinivas reaches Railway station and sees Venky imploring the Goom party. He asks Venky why did Venky do this to him. Venky feels his love for Nandu is very small compared to the relationship between Srinivas and Nandu or Srinivas and Shekaram. He confesses that he loves Nandu very much. But he hasn't told that even to her yet. Srinivas realises that she have been searching for coal while he had diamond at his home. Vanky and Nandu get married shortly after.
This movie was released in 2001.
In beautiful memory of Aarthi Agarwal. She died in 2015 at the age of 31.

She is an idiot. She doesn't know whether it's good or bad to love someone. She just does. You must be thinking you are doing some big sacrifice for her. She might not suicide after you leave her. But she will live rest of her life like dead. You will be responsible for every drop of tear from her eyes post marriage. Her love is not something for you to use to become a better man in others' eyes
