Kalyani
Spoken to my friend Kalyani after a long time.
I know her for the past 12 years. We both joined Wipro Technologies together on 17th June 2007. She was one of the few people who knew Hindi in that batch. Imagine my relief finding one person with whom I can speak Hindi. I was still learning English. I tried to overlook the fact that she is a girl. I have never spoken to girls without any reason before. Friendship was out of the question. But she was very friendly. She pushed me to talk to her even when I showed no interest. She will wait for me to finish my training exercises to go back to the hostel together. I always wondered why this girl is waiting for me and why she will walk with me and talk to me while other Telugu friends are walking nearby.
I wanted to sit with Kalyani for being my only friend in my training sessions. But some other girl came asked me if I minded she sitting with me. I was shocked and breathless. I just shook my head, which said yes. That girl had other intentions. I did clear my first training and assessment in flying colors. So this girl wanted to sit with me so that she will also learn from me. I used her as my personal typing assistant since my typing was very slow. I have been good friends with that girl until 2017 when her husband started suspecting she is having an affair with me. I was her only guy friend. So, it makes sense for her husband to suspect. So, I closed all communications with her. She called me once when she came to the UK with her husband. I didn't meet her though.
Kalyani and I have been very good friends from starting. But I moved to Pune and then to Bangalore. She stayed in Hyderabad. In the year 2008-2009, we both were on the bench. So, we literally go to the office to talk to each other. There was no Whatsapp at that time. And calling was expensive. So, we stuck to Communicator. Then we both got projects. Still, we stayed in touch via mails. She came to Bangalore after my marriage to meet me. I could see the disappointment in her eyes. I ignored it.
She got onsite to the US soon. She got married a year after. Her husband was a US Green Cardholder. He was also a Brahmin. They started their married life. It didn't go well at all. Same problem in every Telugu households. Husband not respecting her parents. Also, she found that her husband had married once to a Black woman for Green Card. Then she went to court and had the marriage annulled. She has been living in the US ever since. Last month she came back to India, permanently.
We spoke for some time. Her parents are forcing her to get married again. Parents. They are the same everywhere. She has her own flat in Vijayawada and considerable bank balance. I think guys will be in queue. I wished her all the best in her future life.
Then she put the question. "When are you getting married?" She knows that I am not divorced yet. I told her, "Let me first file the divorce. I will think about marriage later. My main concern is my health.". She wished me to get well soon.
She is a good girl. The only problem is she gets offended too often. I have the same problem. So it's not a match. LOL
